Clear Mornings is built to be private by design. This policy explains exactly what happens to your data — in plain language.

The Short Version

• We do not collect, transmit, or sell your personal data. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no trackers in the app.
• Your check-ins, streaks, journal entries, notes, and photos live on your device.
• Sync (optional) happens privately through your own iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. We never see that data.
• No account is required. We don't know who you are, and we can't lose what we never had.

Information We Collect

Nothing. The app does not embed analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting frameworks, and it does not transmit usage data to us.

Data Stored on Your Device

• Check-ins, streaks, milestones, savings settings — stored locally with SwiftData.
• Recovery Mirror photos — stored only in your device's local photo storage, never uploaded by us.
• BYO API key (optional) — if you choose to bring your own GLM (Z.ai) key, it is stored exclusively in the iOS Keychain and is never sent to our servers.
• Contact Support messages (optional) — if you email us or use in-app feedback, we receive what you choose to send (message, email address, device model, OS/app version) solely to answer you.

iCloud Sync (Optional)

If you enable iCloud, your data syncs privately through Apple's CloudKit service under your own Apple ID. Apple acts as the data processor; the developer has no access to the contents of your private CloudKit database.

AI Features

• On-device engine: light AI features run on your device (Apple Intelligence when available) with a rule-based fallback. No data leaves the device.
• Built-in cloud engine (deep chats): when you send a deep chat to Morn, the message text is processed by the developer-operated proxy service and the underlying GLM language model to generate a reply. Before any AI call, a local keyword guard screens your input; messages indicating self-harm intent never reach the AI and instead show crisis hotlines. Chat content is not used to train models and is not shared with advertisers.
• BYO key mode: your requests go directly from your device to the API provider you configured, bypassing our proxy entirely.

Data Deletion

Export everything (JSON/CSV) from Settings → Data, or simply delete the app to remove all local data. iCloud data can be deleted by turning off the app's iCloud access or deleting its iCloud data in iOS Settings. There is no server-side account to delete because none exists.

Children

Clear Mornings is rated 17+ and is not directed at children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
