How does smart scaling work?
Smart scaling adjusts ingredients differently based on their type. Leavening agents (baking powder, baking soda) scale sub-linearly because they become more effective in larger batches. Yeast also scales down because it's more active in larger volumes. Spices are reduced to prevent over-seasoning. Eggs are rounded to the nearest half.
Why is my baking powder amount less than expected?
This is intentional! Leavening agents don't scale linearly. When you double a recipe, you don't need double the baking powder. Our engine uses the formula factor^0.8 for leavening, which is the professional baking standard.
How do I use the pan calculator?
Enter your original pan dimensions and the new pan dimensions. The calculator compares the surface areas and gives you a scale factor to apply to your recipe.
What's included in Premium?
Premium unlocks smart baking adjustments, pan calculator, baker's percentage mode, URL recipe import, and unlimited recipe saves. It's a one-time purchase of $3.99 — no subscription!
How do I import a recipe from a URL?
Tap "Import from URL" on the home screen, paste the recipe URL, and tap Import. The app works best with sites that use structured recipe data (Schema.org).
Can I restore my Premium purchase on a new device?
Yes! Go to Settings and tap "Restore Purchases." Your Premium status will sync through your Apple ID at no additional cost.
Is my recipe data stored in the cloud?
No. All your recipes and preferences are stored locally on your device using CoreData. No data is ever sent to external servers.
