Frequently Asked Questions
Does TrailPin track my location in the background?
TrailPin only uses your location when you are actively recording a route. Background location is used only during active recording to ensure your route is captured even when your screen is off.
Is my data shared with anyone?
No. All your data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no analytics, no ads, and no third-party tracking.
How do I export my routes?
Open any track from your track list, then tap "Export GPX" to share the route file. Pro users can also export as CSV for data analysis.
What's included in the Pro upgrade?
Pro unlocks: unlimited waypoints, unlimited track history, GPX import, CSV export, route color customization, elevation profiles, and speed/altitude charts. It's a one-time purchase of $3.99 — no subscriptions.
How do I restore my Pro purchase?
Go to Settings → TrailPin Pro → Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Why is my GPS signal weak?
GPS accuracy depends on your surroundings. Open sky provides the best signal. Dense forests, urban canyons, and indoor environments can reduce accuracy. Wait a moment for the GPS indicator to turn green before starting.
How can I improve battery life during recording?
Use the "Ultra Saving" power mode in Settings for longer recordings. This reduces GPS update frequency, extending battery life from ~6 hours to ~20 hours. You can also enable "Auto Optimize" to automatically switch modes when battery is low.
Can I import GPX files from other apps?
Yes! Pro users can import GPX files. Tap the import button in the track list, then select a .gpx file from your device.
