Thank you for using MoonShift ("we", "our", or "the app"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Data You Provide

Shift schedule information: Shift type, start/end times, labels you enter
Sleep logs: Manual sleep entries including start/end times and quality ratings
Caffeine logs: Beverages and amounts you log
Preferences: Chronotype, commute time, caffeine sensitivity, target sleep hours
Support requests: Name, email, and message when you contact us

1.2 Health Data (via HealthKit)

MoonShift integrates with Apple Health via the HealthKit framework to read your sleep analysis data and write planned sleep windows back. This data includes:

Sleep analysis (asleep, awake, in-bed periods)
Heart rate variability (optional, for recovery scoring)
Planned sleep windows written back to Apple Health

Health data never leaves your device. All HealthKit data is stored locally and processed on-device. We do not transmit health data to any server.

1.3 Automatically Collected Data

App usage data: We do not collect analytics or tracking data.
Device information: We do not collect device identifiers or location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

To generate personalized sleep plans based on your shift schedule
To calculate recovery scores and fatigue predictions
To provide caffeine cutoff recommendations
To schedule local notifications for bedtime, wake-up, and wind-down reminders
To respond to your support requests
To verify and manage your in-app purchases

3. Data Storage and Security

Local storage: All your data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (Core Data).
HealthKit: Health data is accessed through Apple's secure HealthKit framework with your explicit permission.
No cloud servers: We do not operate any cloud servers for storing your personal data.
iCloud sync: If enabled, your data may sync across your devices via your private iCloud account. This data is encrypted and accessible only to you.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. Specifically:

We do not share data with advertisers or advertising networks
We do not share data with analytics providers
We do not share data with third-party SDKs beyond Apple's StoreKit (for purchase verification) and HealthKit (for sleep data)

5. Third-Party Services

Apple HealthKit: For reading and writing sleep data. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
Apple StoreKit: For processing in-app purchases. Apple handles all payment information.
Apple iCloud: For optional data sync across your devices. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access: View all data stored in the app
Delete: Delete the app to remove all local data
Revoke HealthKit access: Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → MoonShift
Disable notifications: Settings → Notifications → MoonShift
Export: Use the in-app data export feature (Pro feature)

7. Children's Privacy

MoonShift is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

8. International Users

MoonShift is available worldwide. Since all data is stored locally on your device, your data remains in your jurisdiction. We comply with GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), and other applicable privacy regulations.

9. Data Retention

Data is retained on your device until you delete the app or use the in-app reset function. Uninstalling MoonShift permanently deletes all local data.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
