Getting Started

1. Add your first plant: Tap the "+" button, choose "Take Photo" or "Pick Species", enter a nickname, and confirm the watering interval.
2. Enable notifications: Allow notifications during onboarding so you receive the daily digest at 8 AM (or your custom time).
3. Add the home screen widget: Long-press your home screen, tap "+", search "Quench", and choose the widget size. Tap any plant's water button to water it instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the free version really free forever?

Yes. Unlimited plants, daily digest reminders, the home screen widget, the species database, and adaptive scheduling are all free forever. No ads, no plant limits, no locked reminders.

How does the daily digest work?

Instead of sending one notification per plant (which causes notification fatigue), Quench sends a single summary notification at your preferred time (default 8 AM): "3 plants need water today: Monstera, Snake Plant, Pothos." You can change the time in Settings → Notification Time.

What does Premium ($3.99) unlock?

How do AI features work? (BYO Key)

Quench uses a Bring Your Own Key model. You provide your own OpenAI API key (stored securely in iOS Keychain — never on our servers). AI features (identification, diagnosis, coach chat) require either an AI Monthly/Yearly subscription or AI Lifetime purchase to unlock the AI Hub UI. Your OpenAI key handles the actual AI calls directly from your device.

How do I get an OpenAI API key?

1. Visit platform.openai.com/api-keys
2. Create an account or sign in
3. Tap "Create new secret key"
4. Copy the key (starts with sk-)
5. In Quench: Settings → OpenAI API Key → Paste → Save

Your key is stored in the iOS Keychain and never leaves your device except in direct API calls to OpenAI.

Subscription Management

To manage or cancel your AI Plant Doctor subscription:

1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone
2. Tap your Apple ID at the top
3. Tap Subscriptions
4. Find Quench AI Plant Doctor
5. Tap it to change the plan or cancel

Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period, even after cancellation.

Free Trial

The AI Monthly and AI Yearly subscriptions offer a 7-day free trial. The trial converts to a paid subscription automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the trial ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial at no charge.

Restore Purchases

If you reinstall Quench or switch devices, go to Settings → Premium → Manage Subscriptions, then tap "Restore Purchases" on the paywall. All previous purchases (Premium Lifetime, AI subscription, AI Lifetime) will be restored.
