Giftly — Privacy Policy

Overview

Giftly is designed with privacy as a top priority. We believe your personal data — especially information about your friends and family — should never leave your device without your explicit consent.

Giftly does NOT collect, track, or share your personal data. There are no analytics, no advertising SDKs, and no third-party trackers in this app.

Contacts Privacy — Direct Answers

To be unambiguous about how Giftly handles your contacts:

Do you upload the user's contacts to the server?

NO Giftly does NOT upload user contacts to any server. Contacts are read locally on the device via Apple's CNContactStore framework, and only the fields needed by the app (name, birthday, photo) are copied into the app's local on-device SwiftData database. No network request is made that transmits contact data anywhere.

Do you share the user's contacts to any third-party?

NO Giftly does NOT share user contacts with any third-party. There are no analytics SDKs, no advertising networks, no data brokers, and no third-party APIs that receive contact information. The only network call in the app is the optional "Contact Support" form, which sends only the subject and message you type plus basic app diagnostics (version, iOS version, device model) — never contact data.

Data We Store

All app data is stored locally on your device using SwiftData (Apple's native database). This includes:

People you add: Name, birthday, photo, relationship, interests, notes, favorite status
Gift ideas: Title, description, estimated price, status, search terms
Gift history: Gift description, occasion, date given
App preferences: Onboarding completion, notification settings, free-tier AI usage counter

This data never leaves your device. We do not have access to it, and we cannot see or recover it.

Contacts Access

Giftly can import birthdays from your contacts to help you quickly add people. This feature is privacy-minimized:

We only access: name, birthday, and photo
We do NOT access: phone numbers, email addresses, postal addresses, social profiles, or any other contact fields
Contact data is only read when you explicitly tap "Import from Contacts" — never silently or in the background
Imported data is copied into the app's local on-device database and remains there; the original contact entry in iOS Contacts is not modified
Contact data is never transmitted over the network

You can revoke contact access at any time in iOS Settings → Giftly.

Notifications

Giftly sends local notifications for birthday reminders (7 days, 1 day, and on the day at 9 AM). These are local notifications — they are scheduled on your device and do not require a server connection. No push notification tokens are collected and no push server is used.

AI Features

Giftly offers AI-powered gift suggestions using Apple Intelligence, which runs entirely on-device. No contact record is ever uploaded. No data leaves the device.

AI suggestions are generated on-device using Apple's FoundationModels framework (iOS 26+)
No setup or account is required
No third-party AI provider is used
No network request is made for AI suggestions
The free tier includes 3 suggestions per month; the AI Add-on unlocks unlimited suggestions

In-App Purchases

Giftly offers two one-time (non-consumable) purchases: Giftly Pro ($4.99) and AI Add-on ($5.99). Purchase transactions are processed by Apple's StoreKit framework. We receive only the transaction result (purchased or not) — we do not receive your payment information.

What We Don't Do

We do NOT collect analytics or usage data
We do NOT track you across apps or websites
We do NOT use advertising SDKs
We do NOT use third-party analytics (no Firebase, no Google Analytics, no Mixpanel)
We do NOT upload your contacts to any server
We do NOT share your contacts with any third-party
We do NOT upload your data to any server (all data is stored locally on-device)
We do NOT sell or share your data with anyone
We do NOT access your contacts without your explicit permission

Data Export & Deletion

You can export all your data at any time: Settings → Export Backup (creates a JSON file saved to a location you choose).

You can delete all your data by: deleting the app from your device. This permanently removes all stored data.

Children's Privacy

Giftly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
